The Regional Autism Center stands ready to assist families in a variety of ways.

Information

Regional Autism Center staff are available to meet with parents and professionals to provide information and support regarding

  • Information about Autism Spectrum Disorders
  • How to access services in Indiana and Michigan
  • How various funding sources work
  • Resources available locally, statewide and nationally
  • Directory of professionals with expertise in autism
  • How to locate a support group in a particular area
  • Recommendations for books and DVD's pertaining to particular topics
  • Help with finding respite assistance and volunteer support
  • Assistance with insurance issues
  • Assistance with school issues

Families and professionals can access assistance by making an appointment to visit the Regional Autism Center, 2505 E. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, IN; by phone, (574) 289-4831; or email, autismcenter@logancenter.org.

Support Groups

Family Support Group meetings take place the second Thursday of each month from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. or the second Wednesday of each month at 10 a.m at LOGAN Center.

The Regional Autism Center maintains information about contacts for other support groups in Indiana and Michigan.

A Parent Mentor group of experienced parents is available to provide support and friendship to families who are new to the diagnosis or new to the area.

A Teen Group provides monthly recreation and socialization opportunities for high school age students on the Autism Spectrum.

Social Skills classes are offered weekly to youngsters on the autism spectrum.

Workshops and Training

The Regional Autism Center offers a variety of presentations and workshops throughout the year, including a full day workshop each Spring featuring an internationally recognized expert in the field of Autism Spectrum Disorders.

The Regional Autism Center provides training to schools, police and emergency personnel, physicians and others to help the community to be more understanding of the needs and gifts of persons with autism.

Resources may be checked out of the Center’s resource library by parents and professionals. High speed internet access is available to parents and professionals doing research on the world wide web pertaining to autism.

Student volunteers are available to help families who live in the South Bend, Mishawaka or Granger areas who are using ABA or Floortime approaches for one-on-one home programs.

meetings take place the 2nd Thursday of each month, 6:30-8:30 pm at LOGAN Center.
