The Resource Library
The Resource Library provides updated information about autism, research, and resources available for families. A Resource Specialist is on hand to assist with accessing websites, library materials and the resource directory.
The library offers printed materials, publications, books and videos to families and professionals. In addition, the Resource Library links to LOGAN’s Toy Lending Library which offers education and and sensory toys for children with special needs.
The Resource Library is an ideal setting for parents, professionals, and students who want to learn more about autism spectrum disorders and available resources. Groups are welcome by appointment.
Assistance is available 9:00 - 4:30 Monday through Friday, or by appointment.

Resource Library News
The Resource Library at the Regional Autism Center at LOGAN has tapes of several recently aired programs, including The VIEW Special on Autism, MTV Teens with Autism, Larry King Live focus on Autism, Oprah Living with Autism. A sample of our other books, videos, and dvds is shown below.

 Book- Born on a Blue Day is the remarkable story of Daniel Tammet, an autistic savant, and his astonishing accomplishments. 
Book- Simple Strategies that Work offers advice for working with students having Asperger's syndrome.
Video- Rylee's Gift, about a child with Asperger's Syndrome, gives some information about the issues involved in Asperger's as well as personal family accounts of living with an individual with Asperger's.

Magazine- Autism/Asperger's Digest Magazine covers a wide variety of issues that concern families of children with ASD including food aversions, social skills, and medical interventions.

Book- Autism Spectrum Disorders: The Complete Guide to Understanding Autism, Asperger's Syndrome, Pervasive Developmental Disorder, and Other ASDs, by Chantal Sicile-Kira, Foreward by Temple Grandin. This book explains all aspects of ASDs including the causes, how to properly diagnose ASDs, different categories of autism, why people with ASDs act the way they do, treatments, coping strategies and practical tips, educational needs and programs, community interaction, teaching strategies, and resources for educators and other professionals.

Book- The Hidden Curriculum, by Brenda Smith Myles, Melissa L. Trautman, and Ronda L. Schelvan. The purpose of this book is to make readers aware of the hidden curriculum (in social situations), its elusiveness, and its impact.

Book- Dr. Tony Attwood, Dr. Temple Grandin, and other experts write about the female side of Asperger's.
Book- A Parent's Guide to Asperger Syndrome and High Functioning Autism: How to Meet the Challenges and Help your Child Thrive (Sally Ozonoff, Geraldine Dawson, & James McPartland)- Gives a good introduction in to the issues facing children with Asperger's and High Functioning Autism diagnoses. Most parents actually buy this resource to have on hand at all times.

Book - Demystifying Autism Spectrum Disorders – A Guide to Diagnosis for Parents and Professionals, by Carolyn Thorwarth Bruey, Psy. D., is an excellent tool for parents who don’t fully understand their child’s diagnosis or wonder whether there is another ASD Diagnosis that’s more appropriate for their child. It’s also useful to parents who suspect their child has an ASD but doesn’t yet have a diagnosis.

Book- Engaging Autism, by Stanley I. Greenspan and Serena Wieder. This book covers all types of ASD from the earliest signs in infancy through the school years and on into adulthood. It also covers using the Floortime Approach to help children relate, communicate, and think.
