A Parent's Guide to Asperger Syndrome and High Functioning Autism:  How to Meet the Challenges and Help your Child Thrive (Sally Ozonoff, Geraldine Dawson, & James McPartland)-  Gives a good introduction in to the issues facing children with Asperger's and High Functioning Autism diagnoses.  Most parents actually buy this resource to have on hand at all times. 


Demystifying Autism Spectrum Disorders – A Guide to Diagnosis for Parents and Professionals, by Carolyn Thorwarth Bruey, Psy. D., is an excellent tool for parents who don’t fully understand their child’s diagnosis or wonder whether there is another ASD Diagnosis that’s more appropriate for their child. It’s also useful to parents who suspect their child has an ASD but doesn’t yet have a diagnosis.


Engaging Autism, by Stanley I. Greenspan and Serena Wieder. This book covers all types of ASD from the earliest signs in infancy through the school years and on into adulthood. It also covers using the Floortime Approach to help children relate, communicate, and think.
