The Sonya Ansari Center for Autism stands ready to assist families in a variety of ways.
Information & Support
Sonya Ansari Center for Autism staff are available to meet with parents and professionals to provide information and support regarding:
- Information about Autism Spectrum Disorders
- Accessing services in Indiana and Michigan
- How various funding sources work
- Resources available locally, statewide and nationally
- Directory of professionals with expertise in autism
- Locating a support group
- Recommendations for books and DVD's
- Assistance with finding respite and volunteer support
- Insurance issues
- School issues
Support Groups
Family Support Group meets on the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
The Sonya Ansari Center for Autism maintains information about contacts for other support groups in Indiana and Michigan.
Parent Mentor group of experienced parents is available to provide support and friendship to families who are new to the diagnosis or new to the area.
Teen Group provides monthly recreation and socialization opportunities for high school age students on the Autism Spectrum.
Workshops and Training
The Sonya Ansari Center for Autism offers presentations throughout the year.
The Sonya Ansari Center for Autism provides training to schools, police and emergency personnel, physicians and others to help the community to be more understanding of the needs and gifts of persons with autism.
Resources may be checked out of the Center’s resource library by parents and professionals. High speed internet access is available to parents and professionals doing research on the world wide web pertaining to autism.
